I'm lying here watching the World Series of Poker Championship on ESPN, where two mens whose names I cannot pronounce are battling head's up for the championship. Staszko and Heinz have been going at it for awhile here, and I'm really not certain who I think is playing the best. If I were to pick a winner, I would go with the older gentleman - Staszko, but what do I know.
I have been thinking the whole time that my future career might involve being a poker puppy. It looks like a great job - sit at a table, look at some cards, make some money, and then go on and do it all over again. I could get a pair of cool sunglasses, a hooded sweatshirt, and I would have a huge advantage over all of the human players - I have a better nose. I could smell when they were bluffing, when they were scared, when they were confident, and I bet that this would give me a huge advantage at the table. Plus, the fact that I have paws instead of hands would prevent me from doing weird and annoying tricks with the chips (something I hate watching on television).
The format that ESPN has switched to this year is interesting, in that they seem to be showing every single hand. Most of the former coverage has always involved choice hands, but they seem intent on dragging it out by showing each and every hand (which I'm sure they normally do in head's up, but still it is dragging on and on). I think this is where I would have trouble in a poker tournament. I have very little patience, and plus I would have to go find a tree pretty often - it would be tough for me to sit at table for that long (although it would be nice to sit at a table without someone telling me dogs do not belong at the table).
Anyways, hopefully this game ends soon so I can get back to sliding on my belly across the carpet.
